I read the book "Less Than Slaves" by "Benjamin B. Ferencz" last week. Long ago I did not write this blog, but reading amaze me so much that I decided to share my opinion about slave labor and companies who profited from it throughout the Second World War: the theme of the book. I was not surprised the fact that there were slave labor during the war as many books and films have showed this situation, but produced great surprise to me and sad to, the fact that large corporations take advantage of the situation getting huge profits - large companies of today! According to the author, these companies, less than seventy years ago, have built factories in and around the camps to use the work of prisoners, the overwhelming majority were Jews.

Before thinking about this event, is important to emphasize that people and businesses today, can not be held responsible for this fact. It happened in the past and people responsible for it, or have already been tried and convicted or have died. It is clear, moreover, that if victims of that era still alive, I have no doubt, they may require compensation of these companies. I think that even relatives of the victims could claim compensation, because they also had losses.

The book does not detail aspects related to the motivation of the companies to the promotion of slave labor, however, it makes clear that at no time they opposed. I did a search on the internet and got a list of large companies that benefited from slave labor:
